Police helicopter crashes into Glasgow pub roof
Eyewitnesses described the helicopter crashing down onto the roof of the Clutha Vaults bar, where more than 100 people were listening to a band perform, after its rotor blades stopped turning and said the engine appeared to back-fire.
Jim Murphy, former shadow defence secretary and MP for East Renfrewshire, had been nearby when the crash happened and described seeing people covered in dust being pulled out of the building.
“I’m quite big and quite tall and I thought best thing; I can just try and lift people. So there was this kind of human chain, people further in the pub than me trying to grab people out.”
