Rare 800-pound sting ray caught off Miami Beach
During a recent expedition off
Miami Beach for a Japanese shark hunting television show, he was caught off
guard when he and his crew reeled in an 800-pound sting ray. “When we first saw
it we didn’t know what it was. It looked really odd … like some kind of
dinosaur,” Quartiano said in an interview with grindtv. After four hours was
spent hauling in the sting ray, Quartiano’s crew kept it for “three or four
minutes” for a few photos, and then the rare sea creature was released back
into the waters.
